DS/DD

double sided double density.
For example 5.25 inch 360 KB disks and 3.5 inch 720 KB disks are DS/DD disks.

HD

high density.
For example 5.25 inch 1.2 MB disks and 3.5 inch 1.44 MB disks are HD disks.

FAT

file allocation table; a type of table of contents for a disk.

ED

extra high density. For example the 2.88 MB disks are ED disks.

TPI

tracks per inch; for example a 1.44 MB 3.5 inch disk has 135 tpi.
