How to prevent a flu in a cold climate

( flu = influenza, infectious virus disease, which can make you fever and catarrh . )

This tip is mainly for traveler which come from a warm region and travel to a cold region the first time.

  • Find out the weather and season of the country you want to travel to, before you start traveling.
  • Prepare suitable clothing.
  • Eat enough vitamin rich (vitamin C) food., e.g. fruits, vegetable.
Eat also energy rich food, e.g. potatoes, bread, meat. This keeps the body warm. ( If you stay longer be aware, that too much of this energy rich food can make you overweight. )
  • If the weather is really cold or wet cold, cover the throat or even the mouth with a scarf. Wear a head cover.
  • Prefer breathing through the nose, not the mouth, to filter and warm the air.
  • Avoid draft ( more or less fast moving cold air ) inside and outside of buildings.
  • Avoid crowded places, e.g. full busses, crowded supermarkets and other places, if you hear several people cough already or if you know that the area you visit is experiencing now a wave of flu.
  • Don't wear wet clothing. If you come in a rain or wet snow, change the clothing as soon as possible.
  • Never go out with wet hair. Dry your hair thoroughly, before you go out.
