Galapagos - Review of travel web sites

The Galapagos, located at the equator in the Pacific Ocean, is a group of islands about 1000 km west of Ecuador.
It is an archipelago with 13 larger and 8 smaller islands and an unique wildlife. It is a National Park from Ecuador.
Naturalist tours and diving tours are possible to see giant tortoises, a wide range of birds and other unique wildlife.

Things to remember from Galapagos:

Galapagos: Spanish name for tortoises.
On the Galapagos you can see several subspecies of giant tortoises.

Iguanas: Large lizards.

Marine Iguanas: Iguanas which can swim and feed in the sea.

Boobies: Sea birds. On the Galapagos you can see red footed boobies, blue footed boobies and masked boobies.

Great Frigate Bird: A huge black bird. The males can blow up a red pouch (bag) to the size of a balloon.

Flightless Cormorants: Cormorants (large birds) on the Galapagos, which cannot fly.

Galapagos penguins: Penguins on Galapagos. ( Penguins at the equator ! )

Charles Darwin: A British naturalist. He made a study of the animals on the Galapagos in 1835. Following this, he developed his theories on evolution.

El Nino : A warm current in the Pacific Ocean. It usually returns every few years.

Puerto Ayora: Important small town on Santa Cruz island. From tourists frequently visited.

Puerto Baquerizo Moreno: Regional Capital City of Galapagos. Located on San Cristobal island.

Puerto Villamil: Important small town on Isabela island. From tourists less visited than Puerto Ayora.

Airports on Galapagos: On Baltra island and on San Cristobal island.
