Sugar cane
Sugar cane is a grass plantIt grows as a very tall grass, about 2 to 5 m high and with a strong stem (stalk). Stem diameter is about 3 to 5 cm.It contains a high amount of sugar ( about 12 to 18% ). Stem diameter here is about 3.5 cm. Where sugar cane growsSugar cane grows in tropical and semitropical countries. The temperature should be between 24 and 30 degrees Celsius.Rainfall per year should be about 150 to 300 cm. |
How to plant sugar caneYou can plant sugar cane by stem cuttings. Place stem cuttings of 0.3 to 0.5 m length slightly under the soil. After a few weeks time new shoots will come up from the buds.Continue with page 2 Harvesting, History, Scientific name
